The staggered schedule is intended to give schools time to complete final administrative and academic preparations before welcoming students back to classrooms.
The ministry’s calendar also includes second-round examinations for students who require them. These exams are scheduled to run from August 23 to August 27, coinciding with the return of school staff and ensuring that assessment procedures are completed before the new academic year officially begins.
The academic calendar forms part of Qatar’s broader planning framework for the education sector, allowing schools to organize staffing, curriculum delivery, transportation, and student services ahead of the reopening. Authorities periodically review the calendar to align examination periods, national holidays, and religious observances while maintaining continuity in learning.
Earlier this year, the Ministry also released registration and transfer procedures for the 2026–2027 academic year, enabling parents to complete enrollment through the electronic Ma’aref portal according to a phased timetable. Registration reopened ahead of the school year to help ensure schools are ready to accommodate eligible students across different grade levels and nationalities.
The confirmed return dates provide families with sufficient time to finalize school registrations, purchase educational supplies, and prepare children for the new term. For educators and administrators, the week preceding the arrival of students will be used to complete classroom planning, staff coordination, and operational checks designed to support a smooth start to the academic year across Qatar’s public education system.
