The freefall parachute team of Royal Army of Oman has claimed the Italian Air Formation Freefall Championship organised in Pinerolo, situated in Turin Province, Italy, improving their country’s record at the international level of military parachuting competitions.
In the championship, the team of Oman has come first out of 14 teams competing in the championship that took place between the 7th and 9th of August. Their overall performance during the championship has been exemplary in terms of technical perfection, giving them the first position among the competing teams.
This win can be considered yet another international success for the Royal Army of Oman’s freefall parachuting record.

The competition took place in Pinerolo, a town in the metropolitan area of Turin, and focused on air formation freefall parachuting. The Omani team maintained its performance across the championship before finishing at the top of the standings.
The result comes just days before the team is scheduled to compete at another major international event. The Royal Army of Oman’s freefall parachutists will participate in the World Military Parachuting Championship, organised under the International Military Sports Council (CISM), in the Slovak Republic.
The world championship is scheduled to run from August 14 to 23, 2026, giving the Omani team a short turnaround after its Italian victory.
The upcoming CISM competition will provide another international test for the team as it seeks to build on its latest result. The Italian championship victory gives Oman added momentum ahead of the global military parachuting event.
The achievement also contributes to Oman’s growing presence in international military sports, with the Royal Army’s parachuting team representing the Sultanate at competitions beyond the region.
The team’s first-place finish in Pinerolo marks the latest success for Oman’s military sporting programmes and sets the stage for its next challenge in Slovakia later this month.
