Fuel pumps at a service station in Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah Governorate have been identified as being non-compliant in terms of the technical specifications required and, therefore, are now the subject of legal action following a joint inspection by the Consumer Protection Authority, it was reported in a statement released on Friday.
The enforcement drive was conducted in order to make sure that fuel service stations adhere to the Consumer Protection Law and the Executive Regulations of the Sultanate.
Inspectors found that several dispensing pumps at one service station did not conform to the required standards, prompting authorities to initiate legal procedures against the operator under applicable laws.
While officials did not disclose the name of the fuel station or specify the exact nature of the violations, the CPA said the campaign reflects its continued efforts to monitor commercial establishments and verify that businesses operate in line with consumer protection regulations. The authority stressed that accurate fuel measurement remains essential to maintaining fairness and transparency in transactions involving motorists and fuel retailers.
The CPA reaffirmed that it will continue conducting coordinated inspection campaigns with relevant government agencies to strengthen regulatory compliance across the retail sector. Such initiatives are intended to safeguard consumer rights, improve service quality and reinforce confidence in the marketplace by ensuring businesses adhere to approved standards.
Consumer protection inspections are routinely carried out across Oman to identify regulatory breaches, verify the accuracy of commercial measuring devices and address practices that could disadvantage customers.
