The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Qatar has made it compulsory for 27 people to permanently stay out of the medical practice in the country, following the detection of fraud in their claims of work experience during the process of granting a licence.
The move has been taken following the thorough audit of documents undertaken during the first six months of the year in the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP). It has been said in the statements issued by the health officials that the fraud was detected in time, and the individuals in question have not got any permission to treat patients.
Detailing the enforcement mechanism, Dr Saad Al-Kaabi, Director of the Department of Healthcare Professions at MoPH, emphasised that rigorous document screening serves as a vital first line of defence for the nation’s medical system. The ministry works in close coordination with international primary source verification agencies and specialised partner institutions to cross-examine candidates’ academic degrees, clinical practice histories, and professional reference records before granting official medical licences.
By enforcing strict background checks and maintaining a strict zero-tolerance policy against credential fraud, Qatari health authorities aim to safeguard patient welfare, uphold clinical excellence, and maintain public trust across the state’s expanding medical ecosystem. The ministry affirmed that any individual caught submitting falsified credentials or altered employment documentation faces an immediate, lifetime prohibition from securing employment anywhere within Qatar’s healthcare industry.
