The senior officers of the Ministry of Public Works of kuwait officially announced the opening of the long-delayed sabah Al-Nasser Bridge project in Vechallur traffic. It’s an important milestone for the infrastructure development that remained stalled for nearly twelve years.
The piecemeal operational launch was by Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan; she had reviewed ongoing construction progress alongside technical engineering teams to ensure the mega-project advances rapidly toward total completion.
Under the initial phase executed in direct coordination with Kuwait’s General Traffic Department, motorists travelling along the Sixth Ring Road from Salmiya can now access a newly commissioned section leading directly toward Road 604, locally known as Kabd Road.
Concurrently, transport authorities opened a dedicated connecting exit for drivers travelling on the Sixth Ring Road from the Jahra direction toward Road 604, significantly easing traffic bottlenecks at one of the country’s most heavily congested transit junctions.
The resumption and accelerated development of the Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge follow firm directives from top political leadership to eliminate bureaucratic delays and fast-track stalled national infrastructure ventures. Construction work on the bridge had been suspended for roughly a decade before the Ministry of Public Works reignited site activity under an intensified field-monitoring strategy supervised by Dr Al-Mashaan and specialised ministry task forces.
Once fully operational, the elevated bridge structure and expanded arterial access points are projected to dramatically enhance carrying capacity across both the Sixth Ring Road and Kabd Road corridors. Urban transportation planners anticipate that the finalized transit infrastructure will significantly alleviate chronic vehicular congestion, optimize daily commute times for surrounding residential neighborhoods, and bolster overall network efficiency.
The Ministry of Public Works confirmed that remaining structural requirements and technical finishes are currently entering their final stages, with multi-agency teams working in close synchronization to fully integrate the bridge into Kuwait’s expanding highway network.
