Dubai Gold Prices Fall After Fed Holds Interest Rates Steady, Offering Relief to UAE Buyers

On Wednesday, after the US Federal Reserve kept the interest rate unchanged, gold prices in Dubai declined. A strong US dollar and the Federal Reserve’s cautious outlook on future interest rate decisions put pressure on gold prices.

The current rate of gold price in Dubai Jewellery Group: 24K gold dropped to Dh 487.50 per gram, down from Dh 491.50 a day earlier; other categories also recorded a decline, with 22K at Dh 451.50, 21K at Dh 432.75, and 18K at Dh 371.00 per gram.

Experts say the drop in gold prices could be a good opportunity for jewellery buyers and investors in the UAE, especially after gold traded at high levels for the past few weeks.

The decline followed the Federal Reserve’s decision to leave benchmark interest rates unchanged while maintaining a cautious outlook on inflation. Although policymakers refrained from tightening monetary policy, they signaled that inflation risks have not fully eased, strengthening the US dollar and reducing demand for non-yielding assets such as gold.

Internationally, spot gold also edged lower as investors assessed the Fed’s latest policy statement and the prospect of higher interest rates later this year. Analysts noted that expectations of tighter monetary conditions generally weigh on bullion because rising bond yields increase the appeal of interest-bearing investments over precious metals.

Despite the day’s decline, market experts believe geopolitical uncertainty, central bank purchases and sustained investor demand could continue to support gold over the longer term. They say price movements in the coming weeks will largely depend on upcoming US economic data, inflation readings and any fresh guidance from the Federal Reserve regarding future rate decisions.

Dubai remains one of the world’s leading retail gold markets, attracting both residents and international visitors with competitive pricing and a wide range of jewellery products. Daily fluctuations in global bullion prices are quickly reflected in local retail rates, making international economic developments a key factor influencing consumer buying decisions across the UAE.
