George Wassouf Pays Tribute to Arab Music Icons During Memorable Jerash Festival Performance

George Wassouf, a singer from Syria, was at the Jerash Festival in Jordan. The crowd was there to see him. He sang his songs. George Wassouf also talked about the two very famous music stars that are from the Arab world, Umm Kulthum and Abdel Halim Hafez. He remembered them. George Wassouf and the crowd liked the music of Umm Kulthum and Abdel Halim Hafez very much.

At the show, Wassouf said the Jerash Festival is one of the important moments in his life. He added that playing there has always been special to him. He also talked about wanting peace in the world. Said hello to the people of Jordan. The crowd gave him a lot of cheers.

The evening featured a mix of nostalgic classics and the singer’s own chart-topping songs. Wassouf honored Umm Kulthum by performing “Baeed Annak” while also paying tribute to Abdel Halim Hafez with “Ay Damaat Hozn.” The audience responded by singing along and applauding throughout the performances, creating one of the festival’s most memorable musical moments.

In addition to the tribute performances, the veteran artist entertained concertgoers with a selection of his best-known songs, including “Kalam El Nas,” “Khalli Andak Khabar,” “Al Hawa Sultan,” and “Tabib Jarrah.” Fans joined in throughout the concert, turning the venue into a celebration of Arabic music spanning multiple generations.

The Jerash Festival remains one of the Middle East’s most prominent cultural events, bringing together leading Arab artists and performers each year. Held in the historic city of Jerash, the festival showcases music, theatre, folklore, and artistic performances while attracting visitors from across the region.

Wassouf’s appearance added another highlight to this year’s edition, reinforcing his enduring popularity after decades in the music industry. His combination of timeless classics, personal reflections, and tributes to iconic Arab singers resonated with audiences, underscoring the festival’s role in preserving the region’s rich musical heritage while celebrating contemporary performances.
