UAE Weather: Temperatures to Hit 47°C Before Relief Arrives with Fog and Cooler Days
SHARE

The weather conditions of the United Arab Emirates will be marked with a peculiar blend of late summer extremes throughout the week. The interior parts of the desert are predicted to record maximum temperatures of 47 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, after which there will be a pleasant moderation that will sweep through the country by Sunday, featuring cooler temperatures, cloud formation, and fog in the mornings of different territories. As reported in the most recent weather bulletin from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), there is currently a system of low-pressure areas, as well as a large high-pressure area, affecting the Gulf nation. This atmospheric pattern will maintain fair to partly cloudy skies across most regions over the coming days, accompanied by gentle to moderate breezes that are forecasted to strengthen periodically.

The thermal wave will impact inland districts most severely, where daily maximum temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 43°C and 47°C. Meanwhile, coastal areas and offshore islands will see maximum readings ranging from 39°C to 44°C, offering slightly lower numbers but significantly higher moisture levels. Elevated mountainous zones will remain the mildest regions nationwide, with peak daytime temperatures hovering between 30°C and 36°C, and overnight minimums potentially falling to a crisp 23°C in high-altitude terrain.

Relative humidity levels across the country are projected to surge as high as 85 per cent, creating optimal conditions for heavy fog and mist formation over coastal stretches and interior plains. State meteorologists anticipate that moisture will build steadily on Thursday night into Friday morning along maritime zones before expanding further inland through Saturday and Sunday morning. Transport authorities typically urge drivers to exercise caution during these early morning hours, as horizontal visibility can drop rapidly along major intercity highways.

Wind speeds throughout the late-week transition are expected to blow generally between 10 km/h and 25 km/h, though gusts could periodically reach up to 35 km/h. By Saturday afternoon, localised convective clouds may form over eastern regions, triggering localised wind bursts reaching 40 km/h. Sea conditions across both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will remain mostly slight and calm, although wave activity in the Arabian Gulf is expected to pick up to moderate status at times by Sunday.

A broader climate shift is expected to take hold on Sunday as the dominating high-pressure system weakens, resulting in a noticeable drop in overall temperatures across all emirates alongside cloud development over eastern regions. However, lingering moisture will ensure that western coastal areas remain susceptible to early morning mist into early next week. Gulf Tribune
