Altomouh Kuwait Sports Club members were warmly welcomed by His Excellency Ghanem Al-Ghanem, the Ambassador of Kuwait to Egypt, at the embassy in Cairo, who commended them for their excellent performances and outstanding sporting spirit at the 10th Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa Regional Games.
The reception was an illustration of the significance of state support in furthering adaptive sports programs in the region. The ambassador expressed his admiration for the dedication of the athletes and noted that their significant presence in Cairo is the true strength of Kuwait’s adaptive sports community in the international arena.
He also commended the Arab Republic of Egypt for hosting the continental tournament, emphasizing that the host nation’s meticulous organization, warm hospitality, and comprehensive facilities provided an ideal setting for competitors from across the region to perform at their absolute best.
Leadership representatives from the Altomouh Kuwait Sports Club expressed their deep gratitude to the diplomatic mission in Egypt for its unwavering assistance and guidance throughout their stay in Cairo. Led by senior administrative personnel and board officials, the delegation presented symbolic awards and tokens of appreciation to Ambassador Al-Ghanem. They acknowledged the embassy’s continuous efforts in streamlining local logistics, facilitating administrative requirements, and maintaining open channels of communication during the entirety of the regional competition.
The Altomouh Kuwait Sports Club serves as the primary national entity focused on empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities through intensive athletic training, organized competitive events, and long-term societal integration programs. Delegations participating in the Cairo games noted that competing at this level offers athletes an essential platform to showcase their physical talents, build self-confidence, and foster strong bonds of camaraderie with fellow competitors throughout the Gulf and wider Middle East.
During the regional games, Kuwaiti competitors delivered exceptional performances across multiple sporting events, including sweeping top podium places in equestrian categories and making landmark national debuts in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. The trip followed an intensive two-month pre-tournament preparation strategy implemented by the club, which incorporated physical conditioning, skill assessments, and specialized psychological preparation tailored to high-level competition.
Following the formal gathering, officials from the Kuwaiti embassy reaffirmed the state’s ongoing policy of encouraging inclusive sports initiatives and expanding resources for individuals with special needs. The embassy underlined that sports serve as an effective instrument for social empowerment, equal opportunity, and international representation. The Altomouh delegation subsequently concluded its official visit, returning home with renewed momentum and valuable competitive experience as the organization turns its focus toward preparing for upcoming international events on the Special Olympics global calendar.
