Officials have announced that across the coastal region of Oman, visibility is reduced. Late at night and early morning hours, fog and low clouds are expected to develop, prompting motorists to exercise extra caution while travelling.
As per the Civil Aviation Authority (CCA) stated pocket of low cloud and fog is projected to form over coastal areas bordering the Sea of Oman, as well as parts of the southern, eastern, central and Dhofar coastlines. Visibility would be adversely affected by these weather conditions, especially during dawn.
The advisory is issued at a time when seasonal weather patterns keep affecting the atmospheric conditions in the Sultanate.
Moist air moving inland from coastal waters during the night is expected to create favourable conditions for fog formation, especially in low-lying areas and along highways near the coast. Authorities have urged drivers to slow down, maintain safe distances between vehicles and use appropriate lighting where visibility deteriorates.
According to the CAA’s National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, the fog is expected to be most noticeable during the early morning commute before gradually clearing after sunrise as temperatures increase. While no major rainfall is forecast in connection with the advisory, weather officials said changing atmospheric conditions could continue to affect visibility in several governorates over the coming days.
The latest warning follows seasonal forecasts indicating that Oman is likely to experience warmer-than-average temperatures and below-average rainfall during August. Despite generally dry conditions, coastal humidity remains high enough to produce recurring fog and low cloud formation, particularly in eastern and southern parts of the country.
Weather authorities continue to monitor conditions and have advised residents to follow official forecasts for the latest updates. Motorists travelling during late-night or early-morning hours are encouraged to remain vigilant, as visibility can change rapidly in fog-prone areas. Officials also reminded the public that local weather conditions may vary between governorates depending on humidity levels, wind direction and coastal influences.
