American Hospital Dubai Earns UAE Accreditation for Medical Residency and Internship Training

American Hospital Dubai obtains institutional accreditation from NIHS of the UAE in the category of postgraduate medical education, which is yet another achievement for the organisation in the field of postgraduate medical education. Institutional accreditation has been awarded to the hospital’s Medical Residency and Internship Programmes, and the decision was announced at the hospital on July 6, 2026.

This means that the institution meets the NIHS criteria for postgraduate medical education, thus bridging the gap between academic teaching and practical training under one private healthcare roof. The ceremony of awarding the accreditation certificate was conducted by NIHS Secretary General Dr Mohammed Al Houqani.

The latest accreditation adds to American Hospital Dubai’s growing focus on medical education. Its American Hospital Academic Institute (AHAI), established in 2022, serves as the hospital’s educational arm and provides medical students with clinical training and exposure to advanced treatments and procedures.

The hospital has also expanded specialist training through its Robotic Surgery Training Institute, developed with Robotics Surgical Systems and UK-based CMR Surgical. The programme is designed to help healthcare professionals build expertise in robotic surgical techniques and advanced medical technology.

The development follows another major educational achievement earlier in 2026, when American Hospital Dubai became the first private hospital in Dubai to receive accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I). That accreditation covers international standards for graduate medical education.

Roudaina Haddad, group chief operating officer and deputy GCEO of American Hospital Dubai, said the NIHS recognition reflects the institution’s commitment to preparing future healthcare professionals and making medical education an integral part of healthcare delivery.

The hospital said it intends to continue investing in education, innovation and professional development as the UAE expands its healthcare workforce and strengthens its position as a regional centre for advanced medical services and training.
